Both above and below the ocean, with beautiful natural scenery. Mighty mountains in various colours conceal lovely date palm oases and running streams—yellow and red wavy dunes in the desert.

The spirit of the 1001 nights can be felt in towns and villages that still have the remains of ancient forts and palaces. A welcoming people that is proud to show off this lovely country to guests while being kind and happy at the same time.

Pure immersion is the best way to learn about a new place, and an adventure tourism vacation is the most immersive experience. The best adventures are waiting in the remote corners of Oman. Life is about exploring some of the most exciting and gorgeous places on earth. With various landscapes that rival some of the most well-known vacation locations in the world, Oman is regarded as the jewel of Arabia. Oman is an adventurer’s paradise where the intrepid traveller can combine natural beauty with physical excursions that are both challenging and enthralling. Examples include the mystifying openness of the Rub’ al Kali desert and some of the most breathtaking canyons and caves seen anywhere in the world.

Salalah, the capital of the Dhofar province, is a vibrant, subtropical metropolis that draws heavily on Oman’s previous possessions in East Africa for much of its personality. It’s challenging to think that Oman’s first and second cities are located on the same continent while arriving in Salalah from Muscat, especially during the khareef (rainy season).

From mid-June until mid-August, Salalah is submerged in a light mist brought by Indian monsoon clouds. Because of this, the surrounding plain’s stubble and the desert cliff (known locally as the jebel) behind it are converted into a lush oasis where enormous herds of camels graze with cattle and goats in the engulfing mists. All year round, however, Salalah’s coconut-fringed beaches, banana plantations and sociable Dhofari culture offer an attractive flavour of Zanzibar in the heart of the Arabian Desert.

The adjoining port of Khawr Rhori was an important trade center and the main port for the export of frankincense. Just before Mirbat you reach Bin Ali’s Tomb. Ali was revered as a wise and holy man and over his tomb the twin-domed mosque was built. Next to the mosque you will see an old cemetery. It houses two main halls, namely the History Hall, depicting the geography, history of the ancient Frankincense trail and the historical background of the Sultanate through a number of archaeological findings, and The Marine Hall, featuring displays about the development of Oman’s rich marine history. A complete history of the Maritimetrade & ship building industry of Oman could be experienced here, with meticulously carved replicas of the ancient boats & ships of the Omani Maritime trade. Make a brief stop to taste a fresh coconut water drink at fruit stalls (at own cost) lining the streets within the periphery of the old Salalah town (Haffa).
