  • DAY 02: BELGRADE PANORAMIC CITY TOUR

Breakfast at hotel Belgrade is the perfect city for walking tours, however, if you wish to explore incredible sights all over the city and rest your feet for several hours, the best option would be the Belgrade Panoramic City Tour. Our licensed guides will gladly share interesting stories during your ride that will elevate your trip from an informational to an immersive experience. For your convenience, we will pick you up from an agreed location (the city centre, your hotel etc.) The sightseeing starts on your way to New Belgrade, a part of the city built in the communist era. You will be passing by the Palace of Serbia, its construction and facade reflecting the aspiration for architectural grandiose in the second part of the 20th century. Another example of brutalist architecture is the Genex tower, standing tall among the “chess-like” grid of New Belgrade blocks. You will then proceed towards the Belgrade Arena and Congress Hall Sava Center, pass over the “Gazelle” bridge to reach more vibrant and colourful parts of Belgrade and go on with the must-see program. The next part of the tour involves the elite district of Dedinje with edifices of exceptionally rich architectural value. You will make a short break in front the memorial complex devoted to the history of Yugoslavia, with a special emphasis on the life of Josip Broz Tito, a fierce Yugoslavian leader who pioneered solidarity, unity and peace remaining to be the hero of the nation today. Driving from Dedinje, you will take a glance at the stadiums of FC Red Star, once Champions League winner and FC Partizan. After a short drive, you will hop-off on the top of Vracar hill crowned with Saint Sava Temple. This symbol of Belgrade, with its white and gold exterior beautifully reflecting the sun rays, has a prominent place on the Belgrade skyline and it represents the strong faith of the Serbian nation. The plateau is the home of the Serbian National Library, and it is guarded by the monument dedicated to Karađorđe, the leader of the First Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire. Following the route of this comprehensive tour, you will be reaching the Slavija square, where just about a century ago, ducks were hunted. Close to it, you will see the remains of the Serbian General Staff building, destroyed during the NATO bombing in 1999. A drive through this hilly part of Belgrade gives you a chance to enjoy exquisite neighbourhoods and eclectic combinations of architectural styles, reflecting the 23 century-long history of Belgrade. One of the most historically significant point is Saint Mark’s church that keeps the relic of Tsar Dušan, the most powerful ruler in the history of Serbia. Approaching the nucleus of Belgrade, you’ll pass through an administrative triangle formed by the imposing seat of the Serbian National Parliament, as well as the Old and New Palaces as residencies of the City Parliament and the President. After theatrical Terazije square with its remarkable hotel Moskva, we will shortly pass the Republic square, the most central point of Belgrade. You will feel the „beating heart” of Belgrade right beneath your feet once we reach the vivid centre of the city and the Belgrade fortress. Walking from Student’s square, an educational hub of the Serbian capital, Uzun Mirko’s street will lead you to the remarkable fortress consisting of layers from different epochs. A relaxing walk from Kalemegdan Park to the Victor monument will be the cherry on the top – an unforgettable view over the city and Sava and Danube rivers confluence. • DAY 03: FULL DAY DANUBE TOUR- Golubac Fortress

Breakfast at hotel – Let us introduce you to a grandiose monument of nature, the mighty Danube river. The Danube was and still remains the point of both union and separation of nations and countries. Our country is privileged to be one of ten through which this Europe’s second longest river flows. Once the main bond between the East and the West, the border of the powerful Roman Empire hasn’t lost its importance and nowadays is the route that still connects the edges of the Old continent. This incredible river popularly called the “old giant” is the cradle of many civilizations and cultures from different epochs and sites along Serbian part of banks are proving that. Following the flow of the blue giant, you will see the Golubac Fortress first. Built on inaccessible cliffs near the widest part of the Danube, this medieval fortification will welcome you with its mystical towers which tell stories that resemble a true fairytale. Climbing up high one of the towers, you’ll understand why locals find it that Danube looks like sea from this point. Standing on one of the bestpreserved fortresses in Serbia, you will have an opportunity to have an almost “aerial” view of the Danube and of its the mirror-like surface. For next stop, we will set a “time machine” and take you to the Neolithic era. The archaeological site of Lepenski Vir, a prehistoric urban settlement, uncovers information about our ancestors from the VI century BC. Their way of life and mindset are proving that ancient Homo sapiens had been way more advanced than we have predicted. This museum, unique by theme, location, and construction, will leave you inspired and in wonder. A reward for your patience on “class of history”, will be the Eco-ethno household “Kapetan Mišin breg”, where you can enjoy enchanting views over the Đerdap gorge. The complex, named after a very respected captain, offers you an open-air gallery called “Man, wood, water”, a collection of wooden and stone sculptures. Take a deep breath, chitchat with hosts, and gaze far in the distance as you say goodbye to the Mighty. We truly hope that the storytelling connected to the events and sites of the Danube, as “witnesses” of the different epochs, will give you one more piece to add in the Serbia puzzle.

Highlights: – Travel through different epochs that the mighty Danube witnessed – Enjoy mysteries of the medieval Golubac Fortress – Learn about the Neolithic era through a comprehensive presentation of Lepenski Vir – Meet hosts and make great photos from the „Kapetan Mišin breg“ complex
